Declare that God’s arm is not too short. In Numbers 11 we find Moses despondent and ready for death. He cannot see how God can possibly deliver on the promise to provide meat for a month because he limits God's intervention to the ways meat has been provided in the past – flocks and herds. Is the Lord's arm too short? No! A client emails to confirm an appointment on Friday – I go because of trust in both their written commitment and past experience of their reliability. Yet to go to the meeting on another day and 'trust' that they would turn up would be foolish – I have no reason to expect this. Trust is not 'wishful thinking' nor is it ignoring the facts. When following God’s direction runs counter to these we fear not fitting in with the group – be it family, work team, or our friends. 40 day prayer journey Day 9: Trusting God’s Character Pause and give any worries to our loving heavenly Father who knows what we need and cares for us. Trusting God is a heart issue. In Scripture the heart is seen as the governing centre of a person's physical, intellectual, and emotional being – the place where all actions originate. So how can we know if we trust God with all our heart? When we reflect on our own thoughts, words, and actions we will notice where our trust is weak. One indicator will be the areas of life in which we are tempted to worry. Offering our worries to God is an act of trust. “Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. Our 'trust muscles' are developed in our early years.
